William Oliver Buzbee was born in Baldwin County, Alabam to Lawrence and Caroline Laney on 09 Sep 1858. He was named for his Grandfather, William and his uncle, Oliver. William traveled to the Riverview/Ruskin area with his parents and continued to live with them until he was in his late 20’s.
Marriage and Family
Working as a logger for the next 10 years or so, he finally married and settled down to farming. On 23 Feb 1897, William Oliver Buzbee married Nancy Elizabeth Thompson. William and Nancy raised 9 children in a small farming community called Oak Ridge, which is thought to have been somewherre outside of Riverview, in the Bell Shoals area. William, in his later years, gave up farming, worked as a prison guard and later as a night watchman in his retirement. Emma Ruth Buzbee was born 25 Dec 1897, Edith Marian Buzbee born 25 Jul 1899, Carrie Belle Buzbee born 1902, William Augustus Buzbee born 1907, Mary Elizabeth Buzbee born 1909, James Murdock Buzbee born 14 Mar 1911 and died 06 Feb 1951. James Murdock Buzbee married Christine McCoy Moore in 1941 in Hillsborough County, Florida. Laura Myrtice Buzbee, twin to James Murdock Buzbee, born 14 Mar 1911 married Farrell Everard Hill in 1933 in Hillsborough County, Florida. Annie Byrd Buzbee was born 14 Jun 1913 and died 23 Jun 1983. Death
William Oliver Buzbee died on 27 Mar 1929 at the age of 71. Nancy Thompson Buzbee died 27 Jul 1966 at the age of 90. Both are buried in the Hackney Cemetery, in Riverview.
