Sarah Sumner was born on the 27th of Feb 1816 to Joseph Chestnutt Sumner Jr and Mahala Smith in Georgia. I have seen where some people have her listed as “Sallie” but all records; ie: Census, Marriage show her being listed as Sarah. I don’t know where they got Sallie.

Sarah Sumner married Benjamin Willis on the 6th of December 1833 in Irwin County, Georgia. Benjamin Willis was born cir. 1810. Benjamin Willis married a second time to a Mrs. Melissa Gordon who had 3 known children from her previous marriage; Fanny Gordon, James Gordon and Frances Gordon.
Death
Sarah Sumner died on the 27th of February 1861 in Worth County, Georgia and is buried in the Willis Cemetery, in Sumner, Worth County, Georgia. Her husband, Benjamin Willis died on the 4th of May 1882 and is buried next to his wife.
