Mary Sumner married William Garrett on the 17th of October 1848 in Irwin County, Georgia. The 1860 Federal Census is incorrect listing William as 38 and Mary as 39, when the correct age should have been 33 and 29. This is proven by Mary being listed as 19 in 1850 and 39 in 1870.
Death
Mary Sumner Garrett died on the 2nd of December 1901 in Worth County, Georgia and is buried in the Sumner Cemetery, Sumner, Worth County, Georgia. Her husband, William Garrett died in the Civil War in or near Savannah, Georgia of Congestive Chill on the 16th of January 1864. Mary Sumner Garrett never remarried.
