Jefferson Davis “David” Courtoy died in Sarasota, Florida on 15 May 1949 and is buried in Nokomis Cemetery aka Jesse Knight Memorial Cemetery. His obituary was published in The Evening Dependent-16 May 1949. Ada Kelly Courtoy died in 1955 in Pinellas County, Florida. I do not know if she is buried next to Jefferson Courtoy.

J. D. Courtoy died in Sarasota hospital nearly Sunday Morning. Mr. Courtoy, who lived with his daughter, Mrs. Neil R. Cooking, 780 24th Avenue North was visiting his former home in Nokomis. Surviving, besides his daughter, are his wife, Ada Courtoy, St. Petersburg; and two sons, Edward Courtoy, Nokomis and Ruppert Courtoy, Sedan, Kansas, and five grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Nokomis Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Nokomis Cemetery.

J. D. Courtoy, 87, who moved to Florida from Georgia 67 years ago, died early Sunday morning in a Sarasota hospital. For the past four years, he and his wife made their home with their daughter, Mrs. Neil R. Cooking, 780 24th Avenue North, St. Petersburg. He had gone to Nokomis, his former home, a few days ago for a visit with his son, Edward Courtoy and was taken ill there. A retired farmer, he had lived in Nokomis for the past 50 years, he was a member of the methodist church. He is survived by his wife, Ada Courtoy, St. Petersburg; two sons, Edward Courtoy, Nokomis, Florida; Rupert Courtoy, Sedan, Kas; a daughter, Mrs. Neil R. Cooking, St. Petersburg, and five grandchildren. Services will be held at the Nokomis, Florida cemetery today at 2 p.m.
