Harriett M. Haman was born to Williamson Haman and Susan/Sukey Mercer/Messer cir. 1842 in Roberson County, North Carolina. Census records have me very confused. In 1850, Harriett is 18 years old and Patient is 8, in 1860, I cannot find Patient but Harriett is 22 years old. and in 1870, Harriett is 28 years old, the same age Patient should be. How does a person lose 10 years? I do not find any other information on Patient.
Through the years
Harriett M. Haman married Fredrick Rooks, who was the son of Isaac Rooks and Eliza Sumner. 1860 finds Harriett living as a servant in the Manassa Henderson household next door to her sister, Margaret and husband, Andrew J. Bowman. In 1870, Harriett is living with brother, Morris Haman and her mother, and a young girl, named Anna. (I believe that this is Harriett’s daughter) In 1880, she is married to Fred Rooks and have a 13 year old girl named Sarah F. living with them listed as their daughter. (Is this the same little girl in 1870 and “IS” she Fredrick’s daughter.) I find Fred living as a widower in 1900, by 1910 he is remarried to Eda Amanda ?.
Death
I have no information at this time about the death or burial of Harriett Haman Rooks. Fredrick M. Rooks is buried in Salem Cemetery, Sylvester, Worth County, Georgia. Census records that I have found shows only one child.
